Vintage Carboy 5 Gallon Water Bottle with original Rustic Wood Crate
Dallas Water Delivery Era Glass Jug & Rustic Wooden Crate
Price:
$99 each with crate
Description:
In the Dallas area during the 1950s and 1960s, home delivery of water, ice, milk, and other household goods was a normal part of everyday life. Long before bottled water came in plastic, families relied on heavy glass 5-gallon jugs like this one. Delivery drivers would collect the empties and replace them with freshly filled bottles, and the same jugs were reused for years.
I purchased this jug directly from a gentleman now in his 80s. He told me he helped his father deliver water and ice to customers as a young boy and kept these jugs throughout his life because they reminded him of those days. This was one of the last examples he still owned.
Included is a vintage 5-gallon glass water jug together with the original rustic wooden crate. Whether you’re a collector, history enthusiast, decorator, or simply appreciate pieces with a story, this is a wonderful conversation piece from a bygone era.
The glass is clean, the crate has great character, and together they make a striking display for a farmhouse, cabin, lake house, Airbnb, office, shop, or covered patio.
